Séminaire IUSTI

Orateur : Francesco Montomoli

Imperial College London, UK

Titre : "Geometrical Uncertainty, Rare Events and CFD"

Date et lieu : le Vendredi 5 Décembre 2014 à 11h00, IUSTI

Résumé : This seminar will give an overview of the source of Uncertainties in Aircraft Engines and their impact on engine performance. Manufacturing errors can affect up to 30% the life of the engine and one of the most important parameters to characterize the turbine performance, the turbine entry temperature, is not even directly measured. With nowadays standard of safety and reliability this should be addressed. The seminar will show the research activities of the UQ group on Computational Fluid Dynamics and how to use stochastic techniques to account and mitigates such effects. In particular the seminar will show the start of the art of Uncertainty Quantification techniques applied to Gas Turbine development.
