Novel process development using supercritical fluid technology for food ingredients
Orateur : Feral Temelli
Department of Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Science ; University of Alberta
Abstract : Prof. Temelli’s research program at the University of Alberta focuses on the use of separation and conversion technologies for value-added processing of Canadian crops. Use of supercritical carbon dioxide technology, targeting lipid and nutraceutical components, involves various unit operations, including extraction, fractionation, reactions, membrane separation and particle formation techniques with the goal of novel process development based on a solid understanding of fundamentals. She will discuss some examples, including membrane separations of lipids under supercritical conditions and Pressurized Gas-eXpanded (PGX) liquid technology for drying of high molecular weight biopolymers and adsorptive precipitation of bioactives as delivery systems.
