Acoustic metamaterials and metasurfaces for controllable wave manipulation
Orateur : Badreddine Assouar / Chercheur à l’Institut Jean Lamour
Abstract : I will provide an overview on recent researches on acoustic and elastic metamaterials and metasurfaces for controllable wave manipulation, we have developed in the group “Metamaterials and Phononics” at IJL, University of Lorraine. I first will present some advances related to low-frequency acoustic and vibration shielding/absorption making use of metamaterials and metasurfaces, and describe the added value that such artificial engineered materials can bring to consider some innovative applications. Second, I will introduce and delineate some concepts of wave manipulation based on metastructures and discuss their associated configurations, designs and the expected functionalities. Applications such as energy harvesting, acoustic holography and acoustic illusion will be presented. The purpose of this seminar is to discuss the new properties/functionalities/devices acoustic metamaterials and metasurfaces in general can produce, as well as the associated emerging pragmatic applications.
